Esta é a minha objeção à construção da central de energia solar conhecida como Central Fotovoltaica de Estói;

Discordo totalmente da localização sugerida porque a maioria dos terrenos destinados à destruição para a implantação deste projeto estão classificados desde 2008 como Reserva Ecológica Nacional (REN), para a recarga de aquíferos. Esta área relativamente plana no Cerro de Leiria é a principal zona de infiltração máxima do aquífero Peral-Moncarapacho e abastece milhares de pessoas com água potável, razão pela qual o seu funcionamento tem de ser preservado.

A remoção da vegetação e das rochas e o nivelamento da área com maquinaria pesada terão um impacto negativo na capacidade de infiltração da água no solo. Com estas ações, o solo argiloso tornar-se-á mais compacto e mais impermeável à água impedindo esta de se infiltrar no aquífero e consequentemente perder-se para jusante em direção ao mar.

A remoção da vegetação causará igualmente outro flagelo uma vez que as comunidades de árvores encorajam a precipitação, baixam a temperatura do ar, e aumentam a humidade relativa. Como o inverso também é verdadeiro, parece-nos irracional e insustentável erradicar milhares de arbustos e árvores, algumas com centenas de anos, da área de captação e infiltração de água para o aquífero.

Exijo que não seja concedida qualquer licença pelas autoridades competentes para o projeto CFE e para a destruição irreversível desta Reserva Ecológica. Apelo à preservação deste património natural para o futuro, mantendo as azinheiras e todas as espécies protegidas e ameaçadas de plantas e animais que vivem neste habitat único.

WATER AND TREES

This is my objection to the construction of the solar plant known as the Estoi Photovoltaic Power Plant;

I totally disagree with the suggested location because most of the land earmarked for destruction for the implementation of this project has been classified since 2008 as a National Ecological Reserve (REN) for aquifer recharge. This relatively flat area in Cerro de Leiria is the main zone of maximum infiltration of the Peral-Moncarapacho aquifer and supplies thousands of people with drinking water, which is why its functioning must be preserved.

The removal of vegetation and rocks and the levelling of the area with heavy machinery will have a negative impact on the water infiltration capacity of the soil. With these actions, the clay soil will become more compacted and more impermeable to water preventing it from infiltrating into the aquifer and consequently being lost downstream towards the sea.

The removal of vegetation will also cause another scourge as tree communities encourage rainfall, lower air temperature, and increase relative humidity. As the reverse is also true, it seems irrational and unsustainable to eradicate thousands of shrubs and trees, some hundreds of years old, from the catchment area and infiltration of water into the aquifer.

I demand that no license is granted by the competent authorities for the CFE project and for the irreversible destruction of this Ecological Reserve. I call for the preservation of this natural heritage for the future, maintaining the Holm oaks and all the protected and threatened species of plants and animals that live in this unique habitat.

L’EAU ET LES ARBRES

Je m’oppose par la présente à la construction de la centrale solaire connue sous le nom de centrale photovoltaïque d’Estoi ;

Je suis en total désaccord avec l’emplacement proposé car la plupart des terres destinées à être détruites pour la mise en œuvre de ce projet ont été classées depuis 2008 comme réserve écologique nationale (REN) pour la recharge de l’aquifère. Cette zone relativement plate du Cerro de Leiria est la principale zone d’infiltration maximale de l’aquifère Peral-Moncarapacho et alimente des milliers de personnes en eau potable, c’est pourquoi son fonctionnement doit être préservé.

L’enlèvement de la végétation et des rochers et le nivellement de la zone à l’aide de machines lourdes auront un impact négatif sur la capacité d’infiltration de l’eau dans le sol. Avec ces actions, le sol argileux deviendra plus compact et plus imperméable à l’eau, ce qui l’empêchera de s’infiltrer dans l’aquifère et, par conséquent, de se perdre en aval vers la mer.

L’élimination de la végétation causera également un autre fléau, car les communautés d’arbres favorisent les précipitations, abaissent la température de l’air et augmentent l’humidité relative. L’inverse étant également vrai, il semble irrationnel et non durable d’éradiquer des milliers d’arbustes et d’arbres, dont certains ont des centaines d’années, de la zone de captage et d’infiltration de l’eau dans l’aquifère.

J’exige que les autorités compétentes n’accordent aucune licence au projet de la CFE et à la destruction irréversible de cette réserve écologique. Je demande la préservation de ce patrimoine naturel pour l’avenir, en maintenant les chênes verts et toutes les espèces végétales et animales protégées et menacées qui vivent dans cet habitat unique.
